How we handle your personal data
Last updated on 29 July 2026
We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This is a small, pre-launch website, and we collect as little as we can get away with.
1.1 What we collect
This is a pre-launch website with no app and no user accounts yet. The only personal data we collect is what you give us when you sign up for the newsletter: your email address, an optional first name, and your answer to which trail you are planning. We use this data to send you the newsletter and, where you have told us which trail you care about, to prioritise what we write about next.
We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page-view counter, to see which pages are read. It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking.
1.2 Consent
Newsletter sign-up uses double opt-in: after you submit the form, we send a confirmation email, and you are only added to the list once you click the link in it. You can withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly.
1.3 Data access and deletion
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, which removes you from the list immediately. To have your data fully deleted, contact us using the address below.
1.4 Data security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, and retain it only as long as necessary. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours.
1.5 Data sharing and service providers
We use the following service providers to process your data:
- Email marketing: Sender.net processes your email address, name, and trail answer to send you the newsletter.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics: collects anonymous, cookieless statistics about how visitors use this website (page views, referrers). It sets no cookies, stores no personal data, and does no cross-site tracking.
These service providers act as data processors and handle your data according to our instructions. We do not share your personal data with other third parties except when required by law.
1.6 Data retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Once it is no longer needed, it is securely deleted.
1.7 Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: you can request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: you can correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: you can request the deletion of your data.
- Right to restrict processing: you can limit how we process your data.
- Right to object: you can object to the processing of your data for certain purposes.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below.
1.8 Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page.
